Roma 26/04/2007 - Il premier Wen Jiabao e il vice premier Zeng Peiyan saranno a capo di una commissione per la riduzione dei consumi energetici e dell'inquinamento, per perseguire gli obbiettivi fissati dal governo cinese nel piano quinquennale che va dal 2006 al 2010. In una riunione del Consiglio di Stato avvenuta ieri, in cui è stato esaminato il problema environment protection, premier Wen drew attention to the need to significantly reduce fuel consumption and pollution level, in a country where there is a growing economic sectors with high energy demand and high levels of pollution. Wen urged the companies to adhere strictly to the existing laws on environmental protection.
China must reduce energy consumption by 20 percent domestic and 10 percent of the discharges of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) in the time that goes by the last from 2006 to 2010, trying to avoid the disappointing results of the last people in which the reduction of domestic energy consumption was 1.2 percent, compared the 4 percentage points down.
In addition to the question raised by the Prime Minister, SEPA (State Environmental Protection Administration), the organ responsible for supervision of environmental balance, has prepared a measure yesterday, still in draft form, which states that all bodies involved with the ' pollution and environmental protection, must disclose information on the level of degradation and contamination. The environmental departments should also make public 17 categories of information about them, including laws, regulations, policies and standards of environmental protection. Are also included in the measure all those companies that are not yet in line with environmental standards, making result of the information on their behalf. The deputy director of SEPA, Pan Yue, also tends to clarify the need for total involvement of the Chinese people, called to participate actively in environmental protection.
